Female business owners in Devon are invited to attend a Round Table event with the Bank of England to discuss the effects of UK monetary policy on female-led businesses and share experiences of business conditions locally.
We will begin with relaxed networking and a light brunch in the beautiful library at Mount Kelly College. (Please note that access to the Library is via a stone staircase.)
Once seated at the stunning round table, a representative of the Bank of England will deliver a short presentation on the latest Monetary Policy before listening to attendees share their experiences.

11.00 am: Brunch is served (catering by Mount Kelly)
11:30: Presentation by a representative of the Bank of England
11:45 pm: Round Table Discussion

The Bank of England was founded as a private bank in 1694 to act as banker to the Government. Today we are the UK’s central bank.
Monetary policy is action that a country’s central bank or government can take to influence how much money is in the economy and how much it costs to borrow.
As the UK’s central bank, we use two main monetary policy tools. First, we set the interest rate that we charge banks to borrow money from us – this is Bank Rate. Second, we can buy bonds to lower the interest rates on savings and loans through quantitative easing (QE).
About Mount Kelly
“Mount Kelly, set on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, combines academic excellence, an outstanding range of opportunities beyond the classroom and exceptional pastoral care.
The Mount Kelly education stands apart in the values and attitudes of its young men and women. Compassion, tolerance, kindness, integrity, generosity of spirit and a commitment to service underpin a determined dedication to academic excellence.
Mount Kelleians are nurtured by a sensitive rigour in which they are expected to take the risk of being more than what they may think they are, to pick themselves up, and others too, when things do not go their way and in so doing to learn the true nature, joy and responsibility of success.
Preparing our pupils to take their places in a challenging and rapidly evolving world with confidence and courage and gifting them the skills, in the words of John Donne, to be ‘involved in Mankind’, is our duty and should be that of all places of learning. I hope our website gives you a glimpse of what Mount Kelly has to offer – but it can only be a foretaste.
We would be delighted to arrange a visit so that you can see the way we work, and experience the atmosphere and spirit of Mount Kelly for yourself.”
